The sky’s the limit! Create a blog, or a personal website, a professional portfolio, your very own wiki page for collaboration, or even a digital book! These are just a few examples of what is possible with a Whittier.Domains.
Most sites using websites and blogs are created with WordPress.
There are 2 options:
- A free subdomain option for students, faculty, and staff at Whittier College, or anyone with a whittier.edu email address. This free subdomain looks like [name].whittier.domains
- A custom domain can be purchased through this initiative for $12/year (plus $7 for additional identity protection, if desired). This custom domain looks like [customname].com (can also end in .org or .net).
Whittier.Domains is a pilot project of Whittier College Digital Liberal Arts. The project offers students, faculty, staff, and even student organizations the opportunity to register a domain (.com, .org, .net) and create a digital presence through blogs, content management systems, and wikis. Participants can easily install open-source applications such as WordPress, MediaWiki, Drupal, and Omeka on their space giving them a range of ways to create, reflect, and control their digital identity.
