Whittier.Domains is a free service for faculty, staff, and students at Whittier College. The project is managed by Whittier College Digital Liberal Arts, and through Reclaim Hosting for faculty, students, and academic staff to own their own shared hosting website, where they can publish, share, and own their digital content. Those with an @whittier.edu or @poets.whittier.edu email address may receive ONE free subdomain hosted through Whittier.Domains, OR they may purchase their own domain through Whittier.Domains for a minimal hosting charge that is paid directly to Reclaim Hosting.
Whittier.Domains offers students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to register a domain (.com, .org, .net) and create a digital presence through various platforms such as blogs, portfolios, and wikis. Faculty can curate their research and teaching, and Students can easy install popular open source applications such as WordPress, MediaWiki, Drupal, and Omeka on their space giving them an unlimited amount of ways to creatively express and create their digital identity.
